Despite King Charles's increasing pressure to vacate the £30 million Windsor residence, a royal expert has disclosed why Prince Andrew is firmly entrenched at Royal Lodge.
The 75-year-old monarch has encouraged his brother to contemplate a more modest residence, even suggesting Frogmore Cottage, previously occupied by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Furthermore, King Charles tightened the purse strings to secure Prince Andrew's digs, which he is suspected of financing. However, the 64-year-old prince continues to assert that he will be responsible for funding his security team.
Royal commentator Rupert Bell, in an interview with Times Radio, said that Prince Andrew's "arrogance" is preventing him from relocating from the property he leased for 75 years in 2003.
According to Rupert, one of Prince Andrew's issues is that he is occasionally convinced of his righteousness, which leads to him getting into trouble due to his intransigence. At times, his arrogance has resulted in the development of these issues.
He also stated that Prince Andrew feels he has lost everything, and if he loses his home, he will likely think that even more has been taken from him.
Rupert also observed the intriguing power dynamic between the siblings, stating, "It's an interesting dynamic between these two, but the King is trying to force his hand. If Prince Andrew says I can afford to live here, then there's not much the King can do."
According to an informant who spoke to The Sun on Sunday, Prince Andrew is relentless in his decision to remain in the Royal Lodge.
They also stated that he is adamant about having the financial resources to cover his security despite the staggering seven-figure expense it purportedly incurs.
The source also asserted that he is no longer a financial burden on the King and sees no reason why he should be compelled to leave his residence.
Prince Andrew also expressed his desire to pass down the Royal Lodge to his daughters, Princess Eugenie, 34, and Princess Beatrice, 36. King Charles' vision of a "slimmed down monarchy," which commenced with his ascension alongside Queen Camilla, does not include either duchess, despite their Royal lineage.
For starters, the Duke of York had resided at the property since 2003, when it was transferred to him due to the Queen Mother's passing. The new images were released in response to the recent revelation that King Charles has reportedly revoked Prine Andrew's £1 million-per-year allowance, resulting from months of tension between the two brothers, as per Town & Country Magazine. It is alleged that King Charles directed "The Keeper of the Privy Purse" to prevent the payment of the sum.
In an updated edition of his book, "Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story," author Robert Hardman states that Prince Andrew will also be responsible for the expenses of safeguarding numerous historical and valuable works of art and furniture borrowed from the Royal Collection. The new chapters also asserted that Queen Elizabeth III would have compelled Prince Andrew to quit the Royal Lodge if she had lived an additional year.
Buckingham Palace has not responded to the book's assertions. Since being removed as a working royal in May 2020, the Duke of York has been effectively prohibited from using his HRH title in public and has been divested of his charity patronages and military associations.
