Fans were taken aback when Sir Elton John disclosed that he had lost his vision and could not see the stage.
According to The Sun, The singer made an appearance at the musical premiere of "The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical," but he departed the event early.
Elton recently disclosed that he is blind in his right eye as a result of an illness that caused him to lose his eyesight because of the virus.
Nevertheless, the 77-year-old man revealed that his eyesight had deteriorated, which is why he could not watch the performance.
Elton disclosed his ailment during a speech at an event attended by many celebrities.
Per BBC, the legendary musician told everyone who attended the musical: "I have lost my sight and I haven't been able to see the performance but I have enjoyed listening to it."
He added a tribute to his supportive husband, saying, "To my husband, who's been my rock because I haven't been able to come to many of the previews... it's hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it, and it sounded good tonight. Thank you for coming!"
The 77-year-old man fell victim to an infection during the summer, and he has now admitted that he is having a difficult time being productive.
In an interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, he said: "I unfortunately lost my eye sight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the South of France."
The superstar continued: "It's been four months now since I haven't been able to see. My left eye is not the greatest. It's been a while since I've done anything. I just have to get off my backside."
While promoting his most recent documentary, "Elton John: It's Never Too Late," the superstar musician stated that losing his eyesight has caused him to lose his way in life. He made this statement on a breakfast program in the United States.
"It kind of floored me, and I can't see anything. I can't read anything, I can't watch anything," he continued. "There's hope and encouragement that it will be okay. But I'm kind of stuck in the moment, going into the studio and recording, I don't know. Because I can't see a lyric for start."
"The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical" is currently being performed at the Dominion Theatre. The score was composed by the legendary musician Elton John.
Social media surged with an influx of support for the music icon following his statement. Supporters expressed their sincere responses, with numerous others commending his fortitude.
