Katie Holmes has issued a strong rebuttal to claims that her daughter, Suri Cruise, recently gained access to a trust fund set up by her father, Tom Cruise. The actress, known for maintaining a low profile about her personal life, took to Instagram on Sunday to denounce the report as untrue.

"Completely false," Holmes, 45, wrote in response to a Daily Mail article titled, "Suri Cruise the millionaire! Tom Cruise's trust fund has 'kicked in,' and mom Katie Holmes has one for her too." She added, "Daily Mail, you can stop making stuff up," punctuating her frustration with the caption: "Enough."

The public reaction to Holmes' rare statement was swift. While some followers criticized her decision to engage with tabloid speculation, others commended her for defending her daughter. "I'm so sorry, your daughter should be off limits," one commenter wrote, while another praised Holmes, saying, "Good for you for standing up to them! Always rooting for you!"

Suri Cruise, now 18 and a freshman at Carnegie Mellon University, has been largely raised out of the public eye since Holmes and Tom Cruise's high-profile divorce in 2012. According to reports, Cruise, 62, has remained financially supportive of his daughter, including covering her educational expenses. "Tom is indeed paying for Suri's tuition. He has always paid for her schooling and would never stop as he is a stand-up guy," an insider told OK! Magazine.

While Cruise reportedly fulfills his financial obligations, his relationship with Suri has remained distant over the years. "The simple fact why Tom hasn't seen Suri in all these years is because he has chosen not to. That's it," a source told OK! Magazine. "In any divorce where there are children involved, a father is given the right to see their child. Tom didn't see Suri grow up because he chose not to. It was entirely his decision."

Holmes, for her part, has embraced her role as a single parent. In a 2020 interview with InStyle, she reflected on raising Suri amidst the media frenzy following her divorce. "That time was intense. It was a lot of attention, and I had a little child on top of it. [Suri and I] had some funny moments out and about in public."

Holmes has been vocal about fostering Suri's independence and individuality. "[I want] to make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident, and able," she told InStyle. "She came out very strong-she's always been a strong personality. She'll pick an activity and work her butt off until she's really good at it."

Despite her efforts to shield her daughter from public scrutiny, speculation about Suri's relationship with her father and her choice to go by "Suri Noelle" instead of her last name "Cruise" at her high school graduation have drawn attention. Some have interpreted the surname change as an effort to carve out her own identity, though Holmes and Suri have not publicly addressed it.
