Robert F. Kennedy Jr. seems to be taking inspiration from Lenny Kravitz when it comes to training gear!
During his workout at the luxurious Equinox Hudson Yards, the health-conscious politician was seen wearing "tight jeans and hiking boots," giving him the appearance of a "construction worker," according to a source who spoke to Page Six.
"He works out really hard, lifting weights and he does the treadmill. He wears tight jeans," a source said.
It appears that the unconventional workout attire that Kennedy wore generated quite a commotion at the workout mecca, particularly among younger gymgoers who were unfamiliar with the political scion.
"Some people didn't know who he was, and were like, 'Who's that older guy?'" said an insider. "He looked like a construction worker in tight jeans and a T-shirt," they said.
According to Newsweek, Kennedy, who is 70 years old, appeared at the gym in Manhattan while being accompanied by three security officers.
The sight of him running on the treadmill while wearing his hiking boots is said to have provided the club members with a kind of entertainment and laughter.
Kravitz, a rock icon who was seen strength training at the same place the previous year, was observed working out in a tracksuit, sunglasses, and black motorcycle boots. The sighting was evocative of Kravitz's workout attire.
The Post had earlier published photographs of a ripped Kennedy working out at Gold's Gym in Venice, California. These photographs, which he had posted on X, showed him shirtless and wearing trousers and a belt while he quite literally flipped out with a friend.
Kennedy joked that he was "practicing for my confirmation hearing." It was a hilarious statement.
As news of Kennedy Jr.'s gym appearance spread, social media users responded with a mix of amusement and skepticism, quickly commenting on his unconventional workout attire.
Several X users shared their thoughts, with one saying, "RFK Jr. wearing tight jeans at the gym-now that's an image I didn't need. #WorkoutFashionFail." A follower was curious, asking, "Did anyone else catch RFK Jr. working out in jeans? Is this a new trend? #FashionOddity." Another user joked, "RFK Jr. is channeling Lenny Kravitz, but with more boots and less style. #StyleFail." Another follower commented, "Who wears hiking boots to the gym? RFK Jr. clearly does. #GymWardrobeDisaster." Meanwhile, a netizen noted, "RFK Jr. seems more focused on fashion than politics lately. #ConfusingChoices." On a more positive note, a fan added, "70 years old, and he's still keeping it interesting. Gotta respect the commitment. #HealthyAtAnyAge."
Donald Trump, the incoming president, has selected Kennedy to head the Department of Health and Human Services, a position that is contingent upon receiving approval from the Senate.
The fit septuagenarian was also recently involved in an alleged "sexting" dalliance with Olivia Nuzzi, who spent her career as a political correspondent for New York magazine and is now 31 years old. He has disputed the allegations.
The year 2023 saw the publication of a profile that Nuzzi had written about the former presidential candidate who had become a supporter of Donald Trump after withdrawing his own candidacy for the presidency.
However, through his representative, the son of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, who is married to Cheryl Hines, denied the affair and told The Post that he had only ever met Nuzzi "once in his life for an interview she requested."
