The kids of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are developing in a manner that is distinct from that of their parents.
According to Page Six, the actor who plays Deadpool, who is married to his wife and has four children, has stated that he wants to provide them with "as normal a life as possible," but he is also aware of the fact that they were raised in a privileged environment.
"I try not to impose upon them the difference in their childhood to my childhood or my wife's childhood," Reynolds told the Hollywood Reporter in an interview published Friday. "We both grew up very working class, and I remember when they were very young, I used to say or think, like, 'Oh God, I would never have had a gift like this when I was a kid,' or, 'I never would've had this luxury of getting takeout,' or whatever."
Nevertheless, the actor who plays the lead role in "Proposal," who is 48 years old, gradually arrived at the realization that his children do not have to bear that weight due to the success of their parents.
Reynolds considered his four children and concluded that they should not shoulder the burden alone. They have already developed a robust capacity for empathy, a profound connection to gratitude, and a thorough comprehension of the world around them.
Following that, the actor, who had previously tied the knot with Lively in 2012, stated that their children are able to "empathize" with other people, per The International News.
"Those are the things that I would think [would indicate] we're doing an OK job - if our kids can empathize with other people and other kids," he added. "But yes, it's different. When I was a kid, you would just suck it up, get out of the house and be back by sundown, which I just can't even imagine now."
Additionally, Reynolds discussed his experience as a working father during an appearance in the "Actors on Actors" segment that was published by Variety on December 9th.
In order to explain why there was a gap of six years between the two most recent installments of the "Deadpool" film series, he noted that his hard work schedule "swallows [his] whole life over."
When Reynolds was asked about his thoughts regarding the balance of work and family, he admitted that he has a great deal of distress if he is unable to attend significant events, such as his children's competitions or sporting events.
Their first child, James, who is now nine years old, was born two years after Reynolds and Lively, who are both 37 years old, tied the knot.
In September of 2016, the former cast member of "Gossip Girl" gave birth to their second daughter, whom they named Inez.
They became parents for the third time in October 2019, when they received their daughter Betty. The following year, in February 2023, they welcomed their son Olin.
Fans on social media, notably on X, have expressed their understanding and appreciation for Reynolds' remarks regarding parenting. A number of users expressed their admiration for the manner in which he brought up his children, while others expressed their opinions regarding his openness regarding the difficulties of juggling professional and personal responsibilities.
A fan shared their support, writing, "I admire how honest Ryan Reynolds is about parenting. It's tough, but he's doing great." Meanwhile, another commented, "It's refreshing to hear a celebrity be so real about their family life. Respect, Ryan!"
Other fans applauded Reynolds for prioritizing empathy and gratitude, values they feel are essential in raising children. One follower wrote, "It's so important to teach kids empathy, and it's great to see Ryan and Blake doing it!" Another added, "You can tell they care deeply about their kids' emotional growth. #ParentGoals."
However, not all reactions were purely positive. A netizen raised a point about celebrity privilege: "I get it, but these kids will never know true 'normal.' No matter how hard they try to keep it grounded." Another user noted, "Great intentions, but their kids have everything handed to them. Not exactly the same as 'normal.'"
