Ryan Reynolds has addressed Martha Stewart's playful jab about his off-screen persona, calling her description of him as "not so funny" in real life an "incredibly valid observation."
"I don't think what happened was designed to hurt anyone. That was just an incredibly valid observation that someone made," he said while reflecting on the lighthearted jab in an interview published Friday.
It was impossible for the actor from "Deadpool & Wolverine" to walk into a room full of strangers and instantly perform for them, he reasoned.
"But why would people ever assume the way they see you on camera is how you're going to be in real life? Right? You're just a person," he further reflected before conceding that he is guilty of assuming himself.
However, he stated that he is guilty of doing it as well. It turns out that he is a fan of people, and specifically, he is a fan of the work that particular people have done. He revealed that when he meets such people, he is thinking that he wants to see little glimpses of their work.
In addition, according to Page Six, Reynolds, who is 48 years old, stated that if you "can't take a punch" in the entertainment industry, you will be in a lot of problems.
During his appearance on the "Rent Free" game show hosted by Bilt Rewards in November, Stewart took the opportunity to comment on his real-life persona. Stewart is a longtime neighbor of Reynolds and Blake Lively, who is Reynolds' wife.
The lifestyle expert, who is 88 years old, believes that he is a talented young actor. Nevertheless, she asserted that he may feign humor, but in reality, he is not humorous.
According to People, Reynolds dashed over to X in order to participate playfully in the friendly punch, posting, "I'd disagree with her. But I tried that once."
The actor Hugh Jackman, who plays Reynolds' co-star, joined in on the fun and agreed with him.
Reynolds and Stewart have been friends for more than a decade, having become acquainted with one another following the acquisition of a home in Bedford, New York, that cost two million dollars by Reynolds and Lively.
Reynolds' recent reaction to Stewart's cheeky remark about his off-screen humor has sparked a wave of reactions from fans on social media. While Stewart's candid comment that Reynolds "can act funny but isn't funny" might have stung for some, the actor's good-natured response only fueled more conversation. Fans from all over took to X to share their thoughts, with many showing support for Reynolds and others nodding in agreement with Stewart's "legendary honesty."
