It would appear that Jennifer Lopez is now prepared to end her marriage to Ben Affleck while she is in the process of finalizing the divorce proceedings. According to a source who spoke with People about the situation, Jennifer Lopez's once-envisioned fairy tale has turned into a nightmare.
Per Yahoo, Lopez is eager to move on from what has been a difficult period in her life, according to the insider, who disclosed that Lopez is currently in a relatively excellent condition of health.
"She just wants to close the door on this crazy chapter," the source added, indicating that Lopez is looking forward to a fresh start.
An additional source has stated that the couple is not going to get back together, despite the fact that they were just seen at Affleck's residence. This statement follows Lopez's August 2024 divorce filing, which she viewed as her opportunity to fulfill her long-held dreams.
However, per Page Six, the source noted that she may not have fully considered who Affleck truly is, stating, "She just really didn't stop to consider who the actual man was [in] the fairy tale."
The insider discussed Affleck's persona in greater detail, implying that he has a dark side that no one could easily address.
"Ben has a darkness to him that no other person can fix. [His ex-wife] Jen Garner couldn't fix it, and all the success in the world couldn't fix it," the source explained.
One is able to have a greater understanding of the challenges that Lopez encountered in her marriage when seen from this perspective.
On Monday, Lopez, who is 55 years old, and Affleck, who is 52 years old, formally negotiated their divorce. However, the finalization of their divorce will not take place until February 20. According to reports, both partners will retain the possessions that they were able to acquire during their marriage. In the immediate aftermath of his marriage to Lopez, Affleck will continue to maintain ownership in Artists Equity, the production company that he and Matt Damon jointly established.
The specifics of how the couple would divide the sixty million dollar Beverly Hills estate that they used to reside in are unknown at this time; however, the property is currently up for purchase. Additionally, Lopez will retain the five million dollar engagement ring that Affleck presented to her in April of 2022, as stated in the court documents that Page Six obtained.
Lopez filed for divorce on April 26, 2024, citing the day of their separation as the date of separation. Both of the individuals welcomed children from previous relationships into their blended family, despite the fact that they did not have any children together. Affleck is the father of three children with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner: Violet, who is 18 years old; Seraphina, who is 15 years old; and Samuel, who is 12 years old. Lopez is the mother of twins Max and Emme, who are sixteen years old. They were born to Lopez and her ex-husband, Marc Anthony.
During an interview with Variety, Lopez discussed the challenging relationships she had in her life just a few days before the couple officially announced their divorce. Using the experiences that they had in common, she characterized herself and the character that she played in the film "Unstoppable" as being similar in nature.
"We both grew up Latina in this country. We both had children and have hopes and dreams for them," Lopez said. "We both had challenging relationships, which left us holding our families together."
In light of the fact that Lopez is closing this chapter and shedding the complexities of her marriage to Affleck, she appears eager to welcome new beginnings.
