Meghan Markle marked Valentine's Day with a heartfelt social media tribute to Prince Harry as the couple spent the holiday apart, with the Duchess of Sussex returning to California while the Duke remained in Canada for the Invictus Games.

Posting on her newly launched Instagram page, Meghan, 43, shared a black-and-white photograph of her and Harry kissing over a meal. In the caption, she wrote, "Back home taking care of our babies, and missing my Valentine, as he continues on at the Invictus Games, changing lives and reminding all of us of the power of healing and resilience through these incredible veterans and their families. Beyond proud of my husband and what he's created."

Meghan added a personal touch with a romantic declaration: "My love, I will eat burgers & fries and fish & chips with you forever. Thank you for you." She signed off the message with "As ever, M" and the hashtag #lovewins.

The post came after Meghan's return to Montecito, California, where she reunited with the couple's two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. The Duchess had spent five days in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada, attending the seventh edition of the Invictus Games alongside Prince Harry before her planned departure.

An onlooker at the event told People, "I think it's great that she's coming. There is a lot of speculation about them and their marriage, but this reinforces one thing to me, at least-there is no separation. It looks like they present a united front when it comes to matters they both care about."

Speaking at the Games, Prince Harry, 40, expressed his gratitude for Meghan's support, telling People, "To have my wife here supporting me is amazing. I love that she's by my side. It's such an important piece to this whole adventure."

Despite being apart on February 14, the couple appeared to celebrate the holiday early, dining with singer Michael Bublé and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, at Il Caminetto, an Italian restaurant in Whistler. Meghan reportedly wore diamond earrings that Harry gifted her for Valentine's Day in 2023.

In another Instagram post, Meghan shared a photo of personalized gifts she brought back from Canada for Archie and Lilibet, including custom Team Nigeria jerseys and Canadian chocolates. "A taste of Canada and The Invictus Games for our little ones! Cheering you on from home!" she wrote.

Meghan's affection for Valentine's Day has been well-documented. In a past blog post on her now-defunct lifestyle website The Tig, she wrote, "Without fail, every February 14th, I wake up feeling like I'm immersed in a Robert Doisneau photo, waiting with bated breath to be dipped into a kiss."

Her Valentine's post came hours after the Prince and Princess of Wales shared their first-ever social media tribute for the holiday. Prince William and Princess Kate posted a woodland photograph of themselves, taken from a September video in which Kate announced she had completed chemotherapy. The image, posted with a simple heart emoji, underscored what the Prince has described as a "brutal" year for the couple following Kate's cancer diagnosis and King Charles's ongoing treatment.

While Harry will remain in Canada until the Games conclude with the closing ceremony on Sunday, Meghan's Instagram message highlighted the couple's continued connection despite the distance. A source close to the Sussexes told People, "This was always planned. Meghan is going home to be with her children. This is Prince Harry's event, and she is there to support him, but this was planned."
