Meghan Markle's attempt to showcase a festive family breakfast has ignited scrutiny on social media, with critics accusing the Duchess of Sussex of staging the activity for appearances. Markle posted videos to Instagram Stories on Monday, displaying herself preparing green waffles in honor of St. Patrick's Day for her children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

In the footage, the Duchess is seen pouring green-dyed batter into a Cuisinart Waring Pro Belgian waffle maker, a model that imprints distinct ridges dividing the waffles into quadrants. However, eagle-eyed users were quick to point out inconsistencies. The final plated waffles appeared flat, lacking the characteristic grooves of the waffle iron shown in the video.

"For the kids..." Markle captioned an image of a green waffle, topped with a slice of kiwi, two blueberries, and whipped cream. Fans questioned whether the waffles were in fact homemade, with some alleging they resembled store-bought versions instead.

"Meghan Markle's relentless compulsion to lie about everything is baffling-even over something as trivial as a waffle," one social media user wrote on X (formerly Twitter) Tuesday. "She posted a video of herself using a waffle maker with a divider, yet the so-called 'homemade' waffle she presented looked exactly like a store-bought one, missing the dividers that should have been there."

Another user speculated Markle used pre-packaged waffles, sharing an image of Kellogg's green apple Dragon Waffles, writing, "She didn't fresh make them for her kids. She used these frozen waffles. Why the big deal? Because her post is showing she made it all from scratch."

Others took a harsher tone, labeling the Duchess a "walking scam." One user added, "I couldn't grasp the reason to lie about waffles. What kind of person needs to do that?"

Page Six reported that sources close to Markle indicated two different waffle makers were used-one for the children and another for adults-though skepticism remained rampant among fans.

In addition to the video of her children's breakfast, Markle, 43, shared an image of a separate plate for herself and Prince Harry, 40. The photo displayed two-quarters of a waffle stacked with strawberries and whipped cream, alongside what appeared to be an iced matcha latte.

"...and us! Happy St. Patrick's Day ," she captioned the post.

Markle also noted in one clip that she dyed the batter green because the Sussex family "love[s] a theme."
