Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton recently escaped to the Caribbean island of Mustique for a private retreat described by sources as a "second honeymoon," marking a quiet moment of recovery and reconnection following a turbulent period of health struggles and persistent speculation about their marriage.

The royal couple, who have faced intense public scrutiny amid Kate's cancer diagnosis and rumors of marital strain, stayed in an exclusive $48,000-a-week villa on the ultra-private island. Locals told RadarOnline.com that the Prince of Wales was seen "pounding back vodka cranberries" at Basil's Bar, the island's famed beachside hangout, and mingling with guests during the Mustique Blues Festival.

"They're regulars here," a bartender at Basil's said. "He's a vodka and cranberry guy, nothing fancy. He keeps it simple." Staff added that the couple were generous tippers and appeared relaxed throughout their stay.

"They were drinking and dancing all night," said one longtime waiter. "Even Kate let loose. The music festival is always a good time." Island employees and residents emphasized that privacy was respected, thanks in part to Mustique's strict no-paparazzi policy.

A source said the couple spent time socializing at the Cotton House hotel, lounging poolside, and even grocery shopping. "Kate blended in so seamlessly," said a staffer. "She was able to shop at the little grocery store without anyone bothering her."

Carole Middleton, Kate's mother, accompanied the family to care for the royal children and celebrate her 70th birthday at the villa while William and Kate enjoyed the festivities. "Carole was there with the kids so Kate and William could sneak away and enjoy the party," a source said.

The getaway coincides with Kate's slow return to royal duties as she continues recovery. Prince William has taken on an increased share of the royal workload since both his wife and King Charles were diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.

A source told Closer magazine, "William has been incredibly supportive through Kate's cancer battle - he's really proven himself to be a remarkable partner when the going gets tough."

The couple is reportedly planning additional romantic getaways this summer, including a potential return to Seychelles, where they honeymooned after their 2011 wedding. Other family trips under consideration include visits to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain largely estranged from the Waleses, Kate has reportedly continued playing a quiet role in efforts to reconcile Prince William and Prince Harry. However, insiders suggest the couple is prioritizing family time and wellness over royal politics for now.
