Lori Loughlin and husband Mossimo Giannulli have entered a guilty plea in the college admission scandal. However, new rumors have it that the Fuller House actress plans to turn against her husband to avoid prison time.
According to the National Enquirer, Loughlin is planning to testify against Giannulli as both of them think it is the only way to keep them from getting 45 years in prison. The couple, allegedly, decided to take a desperate move after a judge rejected their bid to dismiss the case early this month. The tabloid also cited a lawyer saying this is often the tactic used to save one party while the other takes all the blame.
While it's true that the couple decided to enter a guilty plea after a judge rejected their bid to toss the case, it is not true that Loughlin is planning to throw her husband under the bus. Gossip Cop also found no evidence that Loughlin is planning to flip on her husband as both of them have already agreed to take a guilty plea deal.
Under the plea agreement, none of them will be served 45 years or even a year in prison. The judge has yet to accept the plea deal until he sees pre-sentencing reports from the Massachusetts Probation Service. The couple is due for sentencing on August 21.
If the judge approved the plea deal, the When Calls the Heart actress would be serving two months in prison plus 100 hours of community service and a fine of $150,000. Her fashion designer husband, on the other hand, will be in jail for five months. Mossimo also agreed to pay a $250,000 fine and serve 250 hours of community service.
According to Us Weekly, the celeb couple's decision came after they realized that the case against them was too strong and it would be reckless if they would allow the case to go on trial. Additionally, Lori and Mossimo were also concerned that their daughters' lives were being affected by the scandal and they were also worried about Isabella, 21, and Olivia Jade, 20, having to testify against them in court.
Loughlin and Giannulli were accused last year of paying $500,000 bribe to get their daughters into the University of Southern California as recruits for the school's rowing team. It was revealed that Bella and Olivia Jade never competed in the sports discipline ever and have no experience with the sport at all.
