Prince Edward and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, have stepped up in their royal duties and responsibilities these past few months. They have become more visible these days following Prince Andrew's sudden "retirement" and the Sussexes' exit.
While royal watchers and fans have continued to share their praises toward the Countess and Earl of Wessex, a royal expert claimed that they might not find happiness in their current roles. As noted, their responsibilities will likely force them to give up their privacy, and they may not like one bit of it.
Speaking to the Daily Express, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams explained that, unlike the other senior royals, Prince Edward and Sophie do not receive the same interest as the Queen, Prince of Wales, and the Cambridges do from the public. For years, they have focused on working on their royal duties without the intense spotlight from the press.
These days, however, they have, reportedly, attracted the eyes of many considering that several senior working royals have already left the royal spotlight. The expert, then, noted that the Wessex couple does not like the idea of it despite feeling "grateful" for the increase of duties.
Fitzwilliams continued and claimed that Prince Edward and Sophie might want to "concentrate" on their work, instead of minding their spotlight. He referenced Princess Anne in this dynamic as she, reportedly, does the same for her charities and patronages.
For many years now, reports dubbed the Princess Royal as the most hardworking British Royal. Despite this, she does not, reportedly, take too much part in the media aspect of her job.
The royal expert asserted that the Earl and Countess of Wessex are likely following the Queen's daughter's "footsteps." With the "enormous" respect for her work ethic, it is not surprising why the Wessex couple would want it. In the end, Fitzwilliams described them as the best examples of the "monarchy at its best."
Earlier this week, Prince Edward's wife revealed surprising details about their two kids, Lady Louise Windsor and James Viscount Severn, according to the Daily Mail. She said that the two young royals are "not into social media."
Sophie countered, though, that she and her husband are planning to teach and "guide" their kids how to use such platforms "as they get older." She, also, described social media as "unkind" at times. But, she, reportedly, hopes that she and her husband's "open relationship" with their kids will help them to navigate the "virtual world," properly, safely, and successfully.
