“Ant-Man and the Wasp” Marvel superhero tops the box office earning $76 million in North America on its first weekend in movie theaters. Worldwide, the “Ant-Man and the Wasp” collected $161 million during its opening.

The Marvel sequel movie starring Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd hits the box office in 4,206 locations in North America. Compared to the original movie “Ant-Man” which earned $57 million in 2015, the sequel has a great start.

The movie has collected positive word-of-mouth, however, it is not converting into huge commercial numbers as what is expected. In fact, the sequel could struggle to top the original “Ant-Man”. Although the movie hits box office over the weekend, its launching is slightly above the phase 1 offerings.

For 10 years, Marvels Cinematic Universe has always been the industry’s finest franchises, giving people what they want with the revolutionized movie industry with great and interconnected storytelling.

MCU has brought $17 billion worldwide. Marvels Studio President Kevin Feige and the company is doing a marvelous job. In fact, even the most boring and vague comic book can be a blockbuster movie.
Head of Disney’s Domestic Distribution Cathleen Taff said, “We are really thrilled about the results. We continue to be amazed by what Kevin Feige and the team do with these films.”

Other movies this weekend, “The First Purge” earns $17.1 million and the lowest, showing the viewers are maybe getting tired of a premise, so the film is struggling to impress the audience. While the “Incredibles 2” broadly stole the second spot with $29 million from the movie blockbuster “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” earning $28.6 million in three days, and “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” having $7.3 million.
