Typhoon Maria puts China in chaos on Monday wherein 670 flights were canceled due to bad weather, 600 boats evacuated and left roads flooded and cracked.The eye of category four typhoon made its landfall in the Lianjiang county, Fuzhou section around 9:10 Wednesday morning.

Based on the figures coming from the database of Beijing Capital International Airport, there were about 670 flights that were canceled, in which all of those flights were domestic. The flight going to Sydney and Australia was also delayed, but the rest of the international flights had less impact.

The heavy rainfall caused heavy traffic both in Beijing suburban areas and outlying areas. In line with this, local authorities decided to issue high winds and heavy rain warning to alert the people in the community. The most flooded areas are those way from the downtown Beijing.

Despite the bad weather condition and safety is at risk, there were no reported serious injuries. Although there are motorways that are not passable. Authorities said they are assigning more patrols in the area. Moreover, the security check at rivers, reservoirs, are canal were already dispatched as additional preventative measures.

The police department from the city assigned 823 auxiliary officers and 800 police officers to support the flood control in which they set-up roadblocks as well as redirecting traffic.

Residents are advised to go to areas that are greatly affected by the typhoon to prevent accidents from happening. According to the Fujian’s flood control office, typhoon Maria has inflicted $82 million economic loses in the province with 76 million yuan damage to the water infrastructure.

In Fuzhou together with Ningde, there were about 40 damaged homes and 11, 200 people affected. The residents suffered from their waterlogged homes and flooded streets.
