Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, fresh from his trip to North Korea, went before Congress to testify on a few key points. CNN reports that it's more about Russia as well as North Korea than anything else, including a meeting US president Donald Trump, had with Russian president Vladimir Putin.

A lot was discussed during the meeting with the US Congress, but it focused on a few important issues concerning North Korea and Russia. Mike Pompeo was recently in North Korea to discuss a few terms that US president Donald Trump wanted North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to commit on. He was asked about North Korea's nuclear programs, as well as North Korea's commitment to key issues.

Pompeo revealed that North Korea was certainly not reneging from a promise they made to make good on a few promises, most especially denuclearization as well as the return of US remains of personnel who died during the Korean War. However, he declined to clear up the nuclear talks, saying that he would answer the question about denuclearization "in a different setting."

Per US Today, the Secretary of State was also asked about Trump and Putin meeting in Helsinki. Pompeo was asked over and over and over and over he declined to answer. The 'secrets' discussed during the meeting would remain that-secrets, he said. As for the issue of the Russian annexation of Crimea, Pompeo was adamant that the US and the Trump administration was not comfortable with how Russia went about taking the territory.

There were questions about Russia's involvement in the election as well. Pompeo answered in the affirmative that Russia needed to be taken to task about their involvement in the elections; he even reiterated the ideas of President Trump, saying that the US president, without a doubt, thinks Russia meddled heavily in the 2016 elections.

There were many other issues on point, but one theme mainly prevailed during the questioning the US public, through its senators, may come to distrust the Trump administration; not only the public but the US' allies as well.
