China Fujian Mobile launched World's first operator cloud VR service, in association with Huawei and its other partners. Named as AND Cloud VR, the technology will offer high-end contents accompanied by virtual reality-based experience to the viewers.
The new technology will provide an accompanying of optical broadband from 100 Mbit/s to 1000 Mbit/s, which will offer spectacular smart video services, according to Telecompaper. AND Cloud VR comprises a wide range of entertainment offerings: live VR broadcasts, VR video-on-demand, VR IMAX, VR video games, VR educational applications and many other VR technology-driven services.
What Will AND Cloud VR Offer:
In addition to these, AND Cloud VR would also offer high-end virtual reality broadcasting of various sports events and concert, as quoted by VRfocus. At the occasion of the launch of this first-ever cloud VR service, the president of China Fujian (Fujian Mobile) said that the company's aim was to provide its customers with the ultimate virtual reality driven experience. Thus to enhance the users' enjoyment to its next level Fujian Mobile, in collaboration with Huawei, has opted to build premium 100M and 1000M optical broadband networks.
He further added that Fujian Mobile has also established a set of VR technologies and service systems covering platforms, networks, terminals, and content, enabling it to launch the AND Cloud VR video service for home users as early as possible. Fujian Mobile authorities further exclaimed that AND Cloud VR utilizes the computing power offered by the combined efforts of cloud GPU rendering and cloud-based server architecture.
Advantages of Cloud Operator VR:
The company even promised to bring major advancement on this in the near future to provide customers with an optimal experience of flawless video streaming. Earlier for VR experience, users used to require a high-end PC or, a VR supported video streaming device. But with this technology, the costing for hardware can be reduced by 70-80 percent, as the video rendering will be automated on cloud only without any difficulties.
Both, Fujian Mobile and Huawei consider AND Cloud VR as a milestone in the field of optical broadcasting and virtual reality. Huawei is planning to work more on VR technology in association with Fujian Mobile, in the upcoming days.
