Some parts of central and southern China will experience high temperatures that will range from 37 to 39 degrees Celsius. This will be felt most especially in the areas of Chongqing, Hubei, and Fujian. Other areas, however, will experience a higher temperature of above 40 degrees Celsius.
Other areas in China will also not be spared by the Heat Wave as the NMC warned of escalating temperatures in the Turpan Basin. It is located northwest of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Some of the areas located in Liaoning and Jilin, China's provinces located in the northeast, are also warned of the rising Heat Wave.
Because of the ongoing threat posed by the Heat Wave, the Chinese Government continuously conducts information campaigns. It informed the populace to be cautious about excessive power loads that might cause fires. The public is also advised to minimize their outdoor activities to prevent heat stroke and other related illnesses.
China observes a 3-Tier Color Coded Warning System when it comes to Heat Waves. Red Code represents the most severe Heat Wave situation. This is being followed by Orange Code and Yellow Code, respectively.
The ongoing China Heat Wave is synonymous with the same catastrophe that some Asian countries are currently experiencing.
Japan, for one, has recently experienced a record-high temperature of 41.1 degree Celsius. A week earlier, Japan's Fire and Disaster Management Agency reported that around 23,000 people were treated in hospitals for heatstroke, 65 of whom are dying due to heat-related illnesses. South Korea's temperature also unexpectedly reached more than 37 degree Celsius, adversely affecting the power supply as purchases of air conditioners skyrocketed among households in Busan and Seoul. The City of Kolkata in India also experienced the scourging temperature of 40.6 degree Celsius. Inclement weather in Pakistan is also threatening its textile and agriculture industries as its temperate hit 50.2 degree Celsius.
A week before the threat of Heat Wave, Beijing experienced its first typhoon after 13 years. The typhoon brought heavy flooding throughout Beijing as well as cancellation of 86 aviation flights from Beijing Capital Airport.
Meanwhile, Accuweather Analyst Joel Myers said that people should be extra cautious on the possible heat illnesses.
"The elderly and those with pre-existent conditions, such as asthma and heart failure, are likely to face declining health due to the exacerbation of their conditions due to weather," Myers said. "Heat exhaustion and stroke, dehydration, migraines, loss of sleep and mood alteration can all occur due to dangerous heat."
