BlackBerry is finally back in the scene. The Canadian company recently launched its new Evolve series of smartphones packed with amazing features and specifications for a reasonable price.

There are two variations of BlackBerry's newest flagship: the Evolve and Evolve X which sport a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 21600 x 1080 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. It will run on Android 8.1 Oreo, the upgraded version of Android 8.0.

With Android 8.1 Oreo, the smartphone can immediately disable its fingerprint reader once an unregistered fingerprint is attempted in numerous circumstances. Its safer browsing feature also allows applications from third-party developers to detect WebView attempts, which could point to malicious URLs.


On top of that, BlackBerry Evolve is powered by Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 (8x 1.8GHz Arm Cortex-A53 cores); Adreno 506 GPU, while the Evolve X is equipped with Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 (4x 2.2GHz Arm Cortex-A73 + 4x 1.8GHz Arm Cortex-A53 cores); Adreno 512 GPU, as per CrackBerry. Onboard storage is capped at 64GB and is expandable up to 2TB through a microSD card.

As for the camera, the BlackBerry Evolve features a dual rear camera set-up with two 13-megapixel sensors that come with f/2.0 aperture, and dual tone LED flash. The Evolve X will also have a dual rear camera set-up with a 12-megapixel primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and 13-megapixel telephoto camera with f/2.6 aperture, 1.0-micron pixels.

Both of the smartphones will also have a 16-megapixel fixed focus sensor front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, 78-degree FoV, Tetra Pixel technology and a LED flash. It also comes with a real-time Bokeh effect which is perfect for selfies.

BlackBerry Evolve and Evolve X also feature a 4,000 mAh battery life which is expected to lasts longer. The Evolve X also supports wireless charging although the charging pad will reportedly be sold separately.

What's more, both smartphones also have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor with a 0.3-second unlock time. It is also the first smartphones from BlackBerry to have Face Unlock capabilities with a promised unlock time of 0.4 seconds.

Regarding its price, the BlackBerry Evolve starts at 24,990 ($364) for the 64GB storage, while the Evolve X is at ₹34,990 ($510) for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. As of now, the smartphones are only available in India.
