On Monday, a Hong Kong theatre director was accused of making child pornography. His works reportedly included oral sex with a minor. Apparently, his bail request was rejected.

According to South China Morning Post, West Kowloon Court heard that the suspect's alleged offenses happened between July 2013 and July 30, 2016. But only 2 years later when Wong Ka-wai faced charges of making child pornography and indecent conduct towards a child under 16 years of age.

The 37-year-old suspect was accused by the prosecutors of committing an act of gross indecency. The incident happened at a motel located in Tsuen Wan. The victim was only identified in court documents as "X" in order to protect her identity.

Hailing from Sha Tin, Wong was also believed to be capturing nude photos and even recording videos of oral sex with the child, The Standard reports.

Later on, he tried to request for bail but was rejected on Monday. The said request was turned down by the acting principal magistrate named Ada Yim Shun-yee.

The case is expected to return to the same court come October 15. As of this writing, police investigations are still ongoing.

This is not the first case of the same matter that got the attention of the whole city. Last year, Hong Kong police have arrested 13 men who were all accused of possessing child pornography. There were about 20,000 and 7,000 photographs and video clips, respectively, all of which depicted child sex abuse.

The 13 suspects, all of whom are Hong Kong citizens, aged between 20 and 46.

In Hong Kong, child pornography is seen as a huge criminal offense. Committing such is synonymous to a fine worth HK$2 million (US$225,000). It also includes at least 8 years imprisonment. On the other hand, committing an act of gross indecency towards a child is punishable by 10 years in jail.
