The Kalashnikov firm in Russia has been known for a different product for a long time-the ever-reliable AK-47, used by armies and revolutionaries, has been manufactured by the company. With this electric car entry, however, the company is aiming to be known for a different kind of product.
The CV-1 is designed like a retro car; it is inspired by the hatchbacks that dominated the Soviet Union back in the 70s. The Kalashnikov CV-1, according to the BBC, was designed to be a cutting-edge 'supercar'-hopefully by global standards.
The CV-1 was designed to be a complex, revolutionary car. It was also created in such a way that it would stand alone globally, with the electric car being able to go toe-to-toe with models produced by such companies like Tesla. There is also the hope that it would allow the company to bounce back, after the debacle surrounding its mini-project 'Little Igor.'
The robot, with a design bearing likenesses to the AT-ST, was known as the 'Kalashnikov Robot.' It was built for the purpose of helping in engineering as well as in combat. However, even the Russians themselves didn't take kindly to the robot. Oregon Live notes one vocal netizen even photoshopped noted Putin critic Alexei Navalny cradled between the robot's arms.
Kalashnikov Concern is the subsidiary behind the electric car. Arab News reports that the company had been behind a lot of other products. It had tried its hand on different products like clothing and other merchandise for civilian consumption, with items as simple as umbrellas to something as complicated as the electric car that is now revealed.
This model, which takes after the Izh-Kombi, a Soviet 70s model of car, did not escape criticisms. Outspoken critics of the electric car had dubbed the car different things when commenting on the company's Facebook page. These monikers range from 'cyberpunk', 'Izh-Zombie,' and others; one even said that Kalashnikov should stay designing weapons for military use and stay away from civilian cars.
The car is designed to reach top speeds of 220 miles (350 km) when fully charged. It would be the first ever car to achieve this speed, even faster than most of the other models created by the firm.
