The seven children of late Senator John McCain attended his funeral at the National Cathedral. Although he acknowledged they were a "blended family," he does not often about it and which children belonged any specific parents.
All McCain's seven children attended his funeral service and pay tribute to the Arizona senator. All of them are at the side of their mother as well as their stepmother, Cindy Mccain, to bid farewell to their father.
According to the Town & Country, McCain's children were shaped by his political career. Doug, Andy, Sydney, Meghan, Jack, Jimmy, Bridget McCain honored their father by sharing a speech or a psalm at the services.
Doug, Andy, and daughter Sidney are the oldest Mcain children. Their mother is Carol McCain, wherein John married her in 1965 which is also his first marriage. But, this has been cut short when John was shot down and captured in Vietnam, and Sidney was just a year before then.
"I didn't really have a father to miss because I didn't know what a father was," Sidney told the New York Times of the five and a half years of her childhood during McCain's absence.
Doug and Andy were actually Carol's son on her first marriage, but John adopted them after marrying her. She raised their three children until John has been finally released from captivity in 1973.
According to his son Andy, John's imprisonment in Vietnam damaged the marriage of his parents. In 1979, Carol and John finalized their divorce, and on that same year, he married his second wife Cindy.
Although Carol has been heartbroken by the end of their marriage, she remained a close relationship with her ex-husband. She also refused to speak ill towards John, even when provoked.
The first child of John and Cindy is Meghan McCain. She and her father were very close to each other, and he also toured her on many of his campaigns. After her father's death, Meghan tweeted how much she loves her father.
The second child of John and Cindy is John (Jack) Sidney McCain IV. Just like his father, he is also a graduate of the Naval Academy in Annapolis - where his father laid to rest as well. The youngest son of Cindy and John is James (Jimmy) McCain, he is a Marine who served in Iraq.
Their youngest child is Bridget, whom she adopted while doing humanitarian work in Bangladesh. Cindy met Bridget at an orphanage as a baby, before she brought her to Arizona.
