United States President Donald Trump lauded North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un for taking the necessary steps to quell tension in the Korean Peninsula by expressing intentions to give up on his nuke weapons. However, the US leader clarified that despite these positive developments, the White House would still have to leave as it is the terms of sanctions imposed on the Hermit Kingdom until it fully denuclearizes.

In his speech made during the 73rd United Nations General Assembly in New York, Trump mentioned the initiatives that Kim took to signify his commitment to the denuclearization deal that US and NoKor had agreed in the Singapore summit, a report from Reuters said.

In June, Trump and Kim met in what is considered one of the most historic events in the global political arena.

As what Trump pointed out in his recent UN speech, the Asian nation has already ceased in doing nuclear tests, a number of NoKor military facilities have also been closed.

The POTUS however, reiterated that there's still a lot of work that needs to be done to secure the peace in the Asian region, particularly in the Korean Peninsula.

With this in mind, Trump clarified that until the denuclearization process has already been completed, the sanctions put on the Kim regime will remain intact.

Trump's UN statement about North Korea appears quite different from the past speeches he made at last year's UN assembly. For instance, in 2017, the American head of state labeled Kim as somewhat of a Rocket Man who is on a suicide mission, a report from Market Watch said.

During that time, in the same venue, Trump threatened that America will not hesitate to totally eradicate North Korea if it comes to that.

Kim's Willingness

During the third South Korean and North Korean summit in Pyongyang, Kim has sworn that he will sign the order to dismantle one of the country's missile testing sites and launching facilities as his gesture of commitment to end the nuclear tension in the region.

To put further credibility on his promise, a previous report from this site said that Kim will invite weapons experts and inspectors coming from different international governing bodies to witness the disassembling process of the said weapons sites.

In his statement made during the three-day Korean summit, Kim also said that he will permanently abolish research and development operations in the country's main nuclear complex located in Nyongban.
