Enough with the sugar coating and all things nice about Ford's latest Ranger, the 2018 Raptor. It sure does come with a few cons. Performance wise it surely will not disappoint. However, for the fickle buyer, every nook and crack must be scrutinized to ensure that one's ideal truck purchase would be made.

Scratchy Dashboard

Firstly, it comes with a scratchy dashboard interior. The likes that one may see on the interiors of entry-level compact cars. One may at least expect a more decent material such as the luxurious feel of the 2018 Chevy Silverado's interiors.

Chevrolet's truck comes at least $10,000 cheaper at $60,000, compared to the Raptor's $75,000 price tag. The GMC's Silverado's dashboard is way more decent yet it only costs around $53,000.

Ranger Raptor's Bulky Key

Props should be given to Ford for its keyless entry and start features. However, it does come with a massive key ring. The keyless feature would mean the ring would most likely be kept in the pockets or have a handy bag just to secure it. Slimmer versions have been offered, especially by European carmakers.

Single 12V

Its predecessors used to have with 2 X 12V giving off 24V in total. Now, it is back to just a single one with Ford's latest Ranger Raptor. There's a wait time in between taking turns on who gets to use it.

A Weaker Towing Capacity

Ford's Raptor used to have a 3.5 T capacity. Now it is only at 2.5 T for its 2018 Ford Raptor. There's a disappointing 1T drop in there.

2018 Kia's Entry-level Picanto is Even Better

At one-fourth of the 2018 Ford Ranger Raptor's price tag, the 2018 Kia Picanto at least has a built-in 'Autonomous Emergency Braking' system. This is a feature which the 2018 Ford Raptor totally lacks.

Overall, initial speed and engine wise it can deliver and perform. However, load this truck up, preferably with a load you'll most likely utilize it with. Then peed it up especially on the highway - it does feel like it has ran out of breath.

In the end, after a justifiable test-drive it still is up to the buyer the latest 2018 Ranger Raptor is a hit or miss for his or her needs. Buyers should take everything into consideration such as weight, speed and load capacity which its future truck may take on in the future.
