Asia is where the money is. This isn't just a theory based on a recent Hollywood movie. Bloomberg's Alfred Liu has reported that Hong Kong has beaten New York for having the highest concentration of ultra-rich people. Third on the list is also an Asian city, Tokyo.

Perhaps Elon Musk's EV company is on the right track when it inked a $9 billion dollar contract to build its second factory in China. Electrek has confirmed in which city Tesla's Asian factory will rise, it will be in Shanghai. This was supported by a report by Zachary Shahan, of Clean Technica, that Musk's team has begun hiring in the said city.

China came in second for having the most number of Tesla's Model 3 pre-orders back in 2016. This was revealed by one of Tesla's head honcho in Asia, Ren Yuxiang. Chinese buyers also have no qualms about the required CN¥ 8,000 deposit to secure their orders.

These recent updates came at a perfect time, just as when China's on the verge of cutting taxes on automobile purchases. It might even be possible that PRC may eventually top the list as patrons of Musk's EVs. Hence, the anticipated early release date in Asia for the 2019 Tesla Model 3 will be a step closer to reality. This could perhaps make up for the 23% of those who requested refunds for their orders.

Tech Crunch has confirmed the tech company's decision to delegate a chunk of its 2019 Model 3 production to Shanghai. Everything seems to be falling into place for the South African billionaire's firm. By the time it has begun their 2019 model 3 deliveries, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge will surely help in dramatically decreasing tariff and shipment costs to nearby countries.

No wonder, the EV firm was confident to announce that the release of their most awaited model will first reach Australia and New Zealand. An announcement was also made that those countries will receive their orders come "mid-2019."

Elon Musk's EV company effortlessly gained 10% market share in the recently crowned, richest city, Hong Kong. In fact, Elon Musk has hailed the city for having the most number of Tesla per capita, as reported by FT. Toyota remains the market leader in the region.

Perhaps the Tesla Model 3 will indeed become the official passenger car of these crazy rich Asians.
