There's a new version of the Camry and Highlander that's set to be unveiled by Toyota at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. This is a strong indication that we're one step closer to the trend ending. We observed that many factories have been on the verge of adopting the "murdered-out" look a few years ago. This trend thrived after a surge took place and the movement gained lots of heat in the aftermarket.

As we currently speak, it's being adopted by many of the mainstream models we're seeing being unveiled. It has actually been revealed that the Japanese automaker's newest Nightshade Editions are "preempting the earlier sunset associated with the end of Daylight Savings Time." However, we know for a fact that they're primarily an opportunity to markup existing models by adding a few darkened bits of trim to make it look even more elegant.

But, if you're interested in unleashing a more beastly look on the road, you might not mind this kind of modification. We know that the Toyota 4Runner Nightshade Edition debuted roughly a month ago and looks rather handsome in gray. However, the elegant look will have people think you're government agent if you get the black or white paint on it. The same applies to the Highlander, albeit to a lesser degree. This model comes available with the SE trim. Also, the Toyota's appearance package adds black accents to the exterior door handles, and mirror caps, rear spoiler, shark fin antenna.

As if that's not enough, Toyota adds black 19-inch wheels, complete with black lug nuts, will match the black headlights and fog lamps. For the Nightshade Edition of the Camry gives it a distinctively sporty look in all hues. However, it rips-off the complete vehicle's overall image to a lesser degree. We understand that Toyota's sedan wasn't particularly chrome heavy, to begin with.

There's a great chance of you noticing the biggest difference on models dressed in something other than black paint. But this one is only available in Midnight Black Metallic, Celestial Silver, or Super White. Some of the additions that have been put in place include blackened mirror caps, window molding, spoiler, antenna, door handles, and exterior badging. For the Camry, it comes with black 18-inch wheels and darkened headlights.

For the Highlander, the appearance package is only available on the SE trim. It has been revealed that the Highlander Nightshade Special Edition will be available this January in a limited run of 5,000 total units, available in Midnight Black Metallic, Predawn Gray Mica, Salsa Red Pearl, and Blizzard Pearl. Shortly after this, we'll expect the Camry variants to follow suit.
