Kevin Durant and Draymond Green made headlines recently, jawing yet again in what the Golden State Warriors was nothing more than an outburst of emotions. Regardless, future moves have been tackled and now the 7-footer is being linked to the Los Angeles Lakers.
It hardly comes as a surprise since basketball pundits are eager to see who will join LeBron James in Hollywood. Most speculate that Durant will be opting out of his contract, potentially joining a team for reasons other than an NBA title.
Like James, Durant has probably done it all. He has savored the sweet taste of an NBA title and an MVP plum as well. With those two key elements essential to any NBA player, what else could be missing?
For KD, the only thing missing is helping another team win an NBA title. James has done it with the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers while Durant has only enjoyed it with one team - that of which is the Warriors. Though irrelevant for some, it not only build the resume of a player but also proves that they are capable of winning an NBA title with different teams and the mix of players. So will the former NBA MVP bite?
There are different justifications to be expected. But as far as Skip Bayless is concerned, it will be because of his "weird character". He brands Durant as an over-sensitive and thin-skinned superstar, points that may lead him to move on to Hollywood. As most know, aside from basketball, it could be KD's ticket to other opportunities like entering the showbiz world and other business-related endeavors.
A James-Durant duo could be formidable although the buck may not stop there. The Lakers could also land Anthony Davis, another all-star that should instantly tag LA as one of the title favorites.
In order for that to happen, some players will have to go. The names of Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and Lonzo Ball have been mentioned, players that the New Orleans Pelicans will put to good use. It is a realistic possibility assuming such a trade package is on the table.
The 2018-19 NBA season is still in the infancy stages and trade talks are expected to swirl. The Lakers obviously need to provide James with better support, tested ones to achieve their goal of once again being at the top of the NBA world.
Durant and/or Davis could be a big addition to the Lakers, something that may hardly surprise anyone, Silver Screen and Roll said. As before, it all depends on what strings Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka can pull to make it happen.
