Fans were surprised and saddened when reports about Henry Cavill's exit from the DC movie franchise as the Man of Steel made the rounds online in September. Jason Momoa, on the other hand, assured viewers that Cavill is far from finished portraying the role of Superman.

Cavill is very much still interested to play the superhero role. He is not hanging his cape anytime soon, according to the Aquaman star. Momoa confirmed this during a red carpet interview with ET Live at the Los Angeles premiere of his movie.

"He's absolutely not [leaving as Superman]. He loves the character, he's not 100 percent."

Momoa is the second person to shut down rumors about Cavill's exit as Superman. The actor's manager Dany Garcia previously also confirmed in a statement that Cavill is still Superman.

"Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. @wbpictures has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe."

Likewise, the Man of Steel star himself seemingly denied the speculations in an Instagram video he shared in September. In the clip, Cavill is seen wearing a shirt that teased at his superhero character. He is also seen holding a Superman figure.

Reports about Cavill's exit from the franchise and as Superman came after a studio insider told The Wrap that Warner Bros. is not in a rush to make any other Superman films. The studio supposedly has its plate full with its upcoming superhero films including Shazam! and Wonder Woman 2 to make room for another film for Cavill.

Then there are reports that deals between the year-old British actor and Warner Bros. have fallen through because of scheduling conflicts. Cavill recently signed a deal to play the role of Geralt of Riva in the Netflix TV adaptation of the famous game The Witcher.

Moreover, the insider claimed that Warner Bros. is looking to make a standalone Supergirl movie although no one has been cast to play the role yet. Screenwriter Oren Uziel (22 Jumpstreet, The Cloverfield Paradox) is reportedly already hands-on with the script.

Regardless, the studio has yet to officially clear or confirm rumors about Cavill's exit. In the meantime, fans can keep their fingers cross that Momoa is right and that Cavill remains as Superman, for which he has played a role in three DC films including the 2013 Man of Steel, 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and in the 2017 film Justice League.
