Jason Momoa revealed that he almost did not get any acting roles following his appearance in Game of Thrones. The actor said it nearly ruined his career.

For some of the casts, they have Game of Thrones to thank for putting them in the Hollywood spotlight. Their appearance in the show opened to better opportunities afterward. It is a different story though for Momoa.

The actor got candid about how the HBO series affected his career during a guest appearance on The Graham Norton Show. Momoa admitted that he had trouble landing other roles because people did not think he could speak English. He said that he played his character so well that it became a challenge afterward when he left the show.

People would "literally" express their surprise that he can speak English. After all, he spoke an invented language in Game of Thrones.

The 39-year old confessed that he did not get much work after his one-year stint in Game of Thrones as the Dothraki leader Khal Drogo. People had trouble differentiating him from his character on the series to the real person. His character's personality got in the way of him landing jobs.

Any Game of Thrones fans would agree that Khal Drogo was among the least favorite characters in the series. He was ruthless and savage. He also had minimal speaking parts in the duration of his appearance in the first season. Only a few mourned when he died from an infected wound.

"I mean, what do you do with that - he [Khal Drogo] doesn't speak English, he's not funny, and he just hurts people."

Momoa revealed that Game of Thrones "literally" left him broke in 2013. He kept his financial struggles a secret from anyone. He kept it to himself for years, but he is glad that it is out in the open now.

"I can't keep a secret to save my life. It was very hard for me so, I am glad we are now here."

Momoa believed then that the "future would be bright" and he was right. It may have taken some time, three years later, to get back on his feet but patience paid off. From playing a brutal Dothraki warrior in Game of Thrones, he now plays the merciful DC superhero Aquaman. He has since debuted the character in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and in Justice League. Now has his very own starring role in Aquaman.
