Avengers: Endgame fan theories continue ahead of the film's release on April 26, 2019, and one such theory involves the importance of Vision in bringing back the decimated human population. A fan claimed that Vision mind-controlled Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.
Viewers may remember that Vision died twice in Avengers: Infinity War. One when Scarlett Witch made the Mind Stone explode with her power and Vision exploded into pieces too. Thanos brought him back from the dead when he turned back the time so he can retrieve the Mind Stone, which left Vision as an empty husk.
However, a Reddit user proposed a theory that Vision is not dead at all. He is alive but not physically. Instead, he lives in the Mind Stone. Vision was able to transfer his mind into the gem when Thanos pulled it out from his head.
The theory goes on to say that, Vision had a hand in the Decimation. He subconsciously influenced Thanos and secured the fate of the 50 percent of the human population who disintegrated. He made sure the Mad Titan inflicted a less destructive method to wipe out everyone. This means those who turned to dust are not dead after all but alive somewhere, with other fan theories suggesting that they are in another reality. Vision then plays a key role in bringing them back in Avengers: Endgame.
Moreover, something Bruce Banner said in a scene in Wakanda in Avengers: Infinity War supports this theory. While Vision was undergoing diagnostic review to have the Mind Stone replaced by a synthetic one, Banner said that the A.I. has evolved into something more powerful. He believes that Vision is now part Mind Stone, part Ultron, part J.A.R.V.I.S. and part Tony Stark, which makes him capable of living even without the Infinity Gem.
This theory may seem a stretch, but it is not far from the story in the Infinity Gauntlet comic book series, which Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame are loosely based on. Adam Warlock also tampered with Thanos mind in the comics, although the character is not part of the superhero ensemble in Avengers: Endgame or in Avengers: Infinity War.
Viewers may remember though that the post-credits scene in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hinted at Adam Warlock's appearance in the franchise. Director James Gunn has since confirmed the character's appearance in the third film, but he might make a cameo in Avengers: Endgame first, if not, then fans will have to wait and see if Vision does reverse the Thanos snap.
