The New Day composed of Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods have been together for more than four years now, a successful triumvirate in all fronts. But in the WWE, most know that anything can happen if CEO Vince McMahon decides to change things up.

And this seems to be the message that the Filthy Four Daily is trying to get at when Bryan Alvarez suggested that McMahon is contemplating changing things up for the many time tag team champions. The only problem is that it was not mentioned if the change will cover a persona change or breaking up the team.

Of the two, it seems that a potential heel-turn may make more sense. While seeing these three stars go on singles competition is something, it may end up with some of them falling behind. Kofi Kingston has done that in the past and Big E has the built to make a run going solo. Xavier Woods seems like the star who may find difficulty thriving in singles competition and he did say previously to Manila Bulletin Sports Online that it is different with two guys outside the ring having your back.

“I have no desire to leave New Day. We can pursue a singles title while being together. Besides, if you have two friends willing to help you, that’s gonna make it easier for you to become a singles champion. People don’t think about the watchable aspect of what it is that we do,” said Woods in that exclusive interview done back in December when he visited the Philippines.

But of course, the decision on the direction does not lie at the hands of the trio. McMahon can easily change the script and does change his mind on a daily basis with seemingly no one able to do anything about it.

The New Day can play both face and heel characters as they have shown in the past. That has been one of the reasons why they have been endeared to WWE fans through the years. Hence, any change may hardly matter for the three thriving under the Freebird rule where all three members are recognized as champions and any two can compete at any time. Further, they do find ways to make show entertaining and fun – the most important thing that the WWE is concerned about.

Will that change, major or minor, have any effect on the New Day? Based on the limited information gathered, it may hardly matter unless Vince McMahon wants a major change – that of which is an impending breakup by the longest-reigning tag team the WWE has to offer.
