Michael Schumacher remains to be one of the most-talked-about sports personalities today despite his current health condition. The Formula One legend was left into a coma after hitting his head into a rock while skiing in French Alps.
Avid followers of the seven-time world champion have been yearning for updates about Schumacher's health. However, his family has kept mum about his status in the past five years.
Luckily, Schumacher's former boss shared some details about the German racer's current situation. Formula 1 boss Ross Brawn revealed that there is still hope for the health-stricken athlete.
"We're all optimistic about finding solutions in the future, and there will be a time when things move forward for Michael," Brawn said during a BBC Radio 5 Live episode. "It's very difficult, for the privacy that the family want, and I have to respect that. They [early visits to the hospital] were very moving in the early days," he added.
Brawn also said that Schumacher's family continue to live a normal life despite his condition. He even mentioned the racer's children, Mick and Gina Maria, who have been "very successful" with what they are currently doing.
Mick Schumacher is following in his father's steps. In fact, the 19-year-old racer is moving up in 2019 to Formula Two after he won last year's European Formula Three championship with eight victories.
Gina-Maria Schumacher, on the other hand, is a horse-riding champion. Although still just a teenager, the Schumi's daughter has already contested across Europe during her equestrian career.
In April 2018, former rival Fernando Alonso paid tribute to Michael Schumacher, saying: "Michael didn't need the perfect car - he was always delivering the result." Though he considers Schumi as a very tough competitor, the 36-year-old Spanish driver even stated that he is positive that the German racer will recover very soon.
For starters, Schumacher suffered life-threatening injuries in December 2018. He was transported to Grenoble Hospital after and underwent two life-saving operations there.
Doctors revealed, a day after admission, that Schumacher's condition was serious, and he would have died if he had not worn safety gears during the time of the accident. Fortunately, it was reported, in April 2014, that Schumi had shown some signs of "consciousness and awakening."
During the eve of Schumi's 50th birthday, his wife stated, in a statement, that the entire family is doing everything to help the Formula One legend. Corinna also thanked Michael Schumacher's fans for their unwavering support to the German racer through the years.
