It's not long ago since Apple released its latest new iPhone models, namely: iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, and iPhone XR. However, predictions and speculations about the next generation models of the popular smartphone, which is rumored to be named as iPhone 11, have already been making rounds online lately.
Among the most famous predictions about the yet-to-be-confirmed iPhone 11 is its supposed high-end camera. Late last year, Sony's sensor division head Satoshi Yoshihara revealed that that the company is currently exerting triple efforts in the production on its next-generation 3D sensors because of the amplified demands of phone makers such as Apple.
This, then, gave birth to the rumors stating that iPhone 11 could carry the revolutionary camera chip of the Tokyo-based multinational conglomerate company. Should these speculations be proven right, fans could expect the next generation iPhone model to have a magic 3D camera.
In other words, users can expect that iPhone 11 could create 3D models of detected world objects. This report is somewhat amusing to iPhone users who have been waiting for some significant developments on its camera.
"Cameras revolutionized phones, and based on what I've seen, I have the same expectation for 3D," Yoshihara stated. "The pace will vary by field, but we're definitely going to see adoption of 3D. I'm certain of it," he added.
Aside from the 3D camera, reports also suggest that Apple is making some changes on the screen of the imminent new smartphone model. It is claimed that iPhone 11 will have a reduced notch.
AMS Senior Marketing Manager David Moon announced, via a press release, that the company created a new optical sensor called TCS3701 that can measure the intensity of ambient light from behind an OLED screen accurately. He furthered that this technology will support the latest design trend used by various smartphone manufacturers, wherein the device's display area is being maximized by simply eradicating front-facing bezels.
While there is a possibility that Apple could use this technology in the up and coming iPhone 11 since AMS supplies the company's camera components, TechRadar suggested that there is also a chance that it would rebuff the new optical sensor. However, the technology news publication remained firm that the new generation iPhones could feature "significantly smaller notch," just like what most companies did on their most recent flagships.
