Henry Cavill is in the middle of filming his new TV series on Netflix. "The Witcher" has the actor playing the role of a monster hunter named Geralt of Rivia but his preparations look more intense than when he was Superman.
In a recent post on Instagram, Cavill shared a photo in between filming scenes for the Netflix show in Budapest, Hungary. The actor is seen standing side by side with a molded statue of his Superman likeness but his followers couldn't help but point out just how much more muscular he is.
Cavill has been hard at training since the streaming platform announced he was playing the physically demanding role last October 2018. He has been doing CrossFit box under trainer Dave Rienz, which can get really intense as it is designed for big bodybuilders.
In the original book series of "The Witcher," which was penned by Andrzej Sapkowski, Geralt of Rivia has been described as a muscular man with a strong endurance. However, fans don't think that the character must be as huge as a bodybuilder since the mutated monster hunter must also be able to move with speed and agility.
Meanwhile, "The Witcher" has recently added two new actors in the cast. Blair Kincaid ("Rough") has signed on for the role of Crach an Craite, while Ossian Perret ("Sanctuary") also joins the series in a still undisclosed role.
Earlier, Netflix tapped Freya Allan for the role of Princess Ciri, who is very important to Geralt's life. Also in the series are Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Millie Brady as Princess Renfri, Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe and Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as King Eist.
Last January, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich posted on Twitter that she tried watching some of the finished scenes with her 5-year-old son. She concluded that "The Witcher" isn't ideally fit for little children, which is just what fans of the books and the video games expected.
In "The Witcher," Geralt kills and disembowels beasts in the most violent way. There are also sex scenes that might be too graphic for some viewers and it's definitely not safe for work (NSFW) material.
Netflix has not yet announced the premiere date of "The Witcher" but speculations are the show will be ready on the streaming platform in late 2019 or early 2020. The first season will have eight episodes.
