"Better Call Saul" has plotted its filming schedule for season 5. However, it might just be the last time viewers will get to see Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) as the show turns more violent in the upcoming season.
According to KOB 4, "Better Call Saul" season 5 will begin filming in Albuquerque from April 10 until August 2019. The production schedule is a lot later than the previous season, which could mean that the show might return on AMC at a later schedule than anticipated.
But fans have been dreading the return of "Better Call Saul" season 5, if only for the fate of Kim. Ever since the show started, viewers have been guessing Kim would eventually die in the series since she was never featured on the show's mother series, "Breaking Bad."
Showrunner Peter Gould said in an interview with Vulture that he worries about Kim's fate too. Since Jimmy/Saul (Bob Odenkirk) has crossed that violent path with Mike (Jonathan Banks) by encroaching on "Breaking Bad" territory by the end of "Better Call Saul" season 4, then the rift in Kim and Jimmy's relationship will grow wider.
Gould, however, can't say if Kim will die in the forthcoming season. "All I can say is, I'd be very sorry if something terrible happened to Kim, but there's a lot of things that can happen to people that don't involve violent deaths," the showrunner said.
Odenkirk also hinted that season 5 would bring the tragedy in Kim and Jimmy's relationship. In an interview with Variety, the actor said that as much as he wants his character and Seehorn's Kim to survive Jimmy's transition into Saul, he just cannot see Kim being with someone despicable as Saul Goodman.
The actor said he feels tragic that this relationship will be ending soon as the world of "Breaking Bad" is slowly coming into "Better Call Saul." However, he sees that there will be at least two more chapters after "Better Call Saul" season 5 that will introduce Walter White (Bryan Cranston) into the series.
In an interview with The Independent, Gould said that he sees the "Better Call Saul having the same number of episodes as "Breaking Bad," which ended after five seasons. It's possible the next installment would be the last of the series.
Aside from Odenkirk, Seehorn and Banks, confirmed to return to "Better Call Saul" season 5 are Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring, Mark Margolis as Hector Salamanca, Lavell Crawford as Huell Babineaux, twins Daniel and Luis Moncada as Leonel and Marco Salamanca, and Laura Fraser as Lydia Rodarte-Quayle. Michael Mando is also expected to reprise his role as Ignacio "Nacho" Varga, but fans speculate he won't survive season 5 too.
