The jailbreak community has just gotten a piece of good news. TIGI Software, the developer of the widely popular Filza File Manager, announced that it has updated Filza so that it can have support for the Rootless JB iOS 12 jailbreak tool.
TIGI Software is a major mover in the jailbreak developer community. The fact that it has updated Filza to be able to support the RootlessJB iOS 12 jailbreak tool means that the other developers now have the freedom to experiment with RootlessJB.
The RootlessJB iOS 12 jailbreak tool is a developer-only tool. While it this may mean that the casual jailbreak followers probably won't have the necessary skills to make the RootlessJB work on their devices, the fact that Filza can support RootlessJB means that it could push the other developers to produce and release their own version of iOS 12 jailbreak tool to the public.
Currently, the RootlessJB iOS 12 jailbreak tool is configured as an SSH-based jailbreak option. It means that the RootlessJB doesn't have the necessary support for the public interfaces, such as a usable package manager, usually utilized by casual jailbreakers or non-developers.
However, support for the RootlessJB iOS 12 jailbreak tool isn't the only good news brought by the updated Filza File Manager. Filza can also provide a direct link for downloading the updated IPA file. Users claim that the IPA file, whether intentionally or unintentionally, is crashing on specific iOS devices.
With Filza offering support for the RootlessJB iOS 12 jailbreak tool, there is no denying that the race to create a fully-functioning iOS 12 jailbreak tool has just gotten interesting. Only recently, developer Sam Binger of the unc0ver jailbreak team claimed that he has successfully jailbroken an iOS 12-equipped device and installed Cydia package manager on the said device.
Well minimal stuff works - still need to do a lot but I have a shell, Cydia works and substrate mostly works. Don’t hold your breath but it’s progressing. pic.twitter.com/bBbZO2Seoy — Sam Bingner (@sbingner) February 12, 2019
Binger shared a short video demonstration utilizing the Cydia package manager. In the video, the Cydia package manager is seemingly compatible with iOS 12, iOS12.1.1 beta 3, and the iOS 12.1.2. While experts in the jailbreak field lauded the effort, they say that there is a lot of work to be done before the public can get a fully-functioning iOS 12 jailbreak tool.
But these developers are closing on it. It has been proven that the RootlessJB iOS 12 jailbreak tool works on iPhones and iPads running with A9, A10, and A11 chips. It's only a matter of time before the general public could soon get a fully-functional iOS 12 jailbreak tool. And with the help of Filza, the RootlessJB may just lead the way.
