Just like Jack Ryan Season 2, Amazon renewed the show for a third season at the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour before it airs. It looks like the show's renewal after the current season release turns a tradition after Amazon Studios head of originals Jennifer Salke announced the Tom Clancy series' pickup.
"We're picking up season 3 of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan," Salke said, per Slash Film. "[Jack Ryan] Season 2 is looking incredibly strong, and we saw no reason not to give it an early pickup. We know how much our global subscribers love it."
Noomi Rapace will be joining Jack Ryan Season 2 as the new character, Harriet 'Harry' Baumann, a German intelligence agent in South America. With the 39-year-old star's coming, fans have to see where it will leave CIA analyst Jack Ryan (John Krasinski) after they met. Other new characters that will join the show are Mike November as a seasoned CIA officer that will work along Ryan.
According to Hiptoro, Tom Wlaschiha, who is popularly known as Game of Thrones' Jaqen H'ghar, will also join Jack Ryan Season 2 as Max Schenkel. Of course, Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, Abbie Cornish, and John Hoogenakker will all return. The show's co-creators and showrunners Carleton Cuse and Graham Roland, too, will come back as the upcoming season's creative masterminds.
"The new season will take our unexpected hero to a new, exciting and dangerous world," Stalked said about Jack Ryan Season 2. Jack will be confronting those in power in the "dangerous and declining democratic regime in South America."
Although Jack Ryan Season 2 may begin in Russia, its main focus will revolve in South America. ScreenRant also reported the new season would be based on Tom Clancy's best-selling novel and the hit film Clear and Present Danger, where Jack faced the South American drug trade while trying to expose the U.S. government's corruption.
Jack Ryan Season 2 has been in the works since the last quarter of 2018. The show takes place in Europe, South America, and the United States. The production started in the summer, so filming even began before Season 1 aired.
Season 1's filming started in the spring of 2017, and its first trailer was released in October. So if Jack Ryan Season 2 would follow the same production and marketing schedule, fans could expect to see the favorite CIA back to the small on screen in the fall.
