Fans are going to be in a lengthy waiting game as it may take a long while before they see Westworld Season 3 on the small screen. There are also reports that may break their hearts as the new season may have a shorter number of episodes, just like the final season of Game of Thrones.

There were reports Westworld Season 3 would start its production next month, but Revenge of the Fans revealed it would be exactly on March 25. Compared to the 10-episode ts previous seasons, the new installment might only have eight episodes, which might run for an hour each.

So, with the series' high production quality, it may take a little while before Westworld Season 3 hits the small screen. HBO has yet to reveal the new season's release date, but there are theories that it may be out in 2020 - although it may be relatively shorter.

Westworld Season 3 may take the place of Game of Thrones' usual release schedule, which is March or April. The show based on George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novel series will end on May, knowing it only has six episodes. So, it will be leaving a void to the network that Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy's show will fill.

Meanwhile, fans and critics alike praised Westworld Season 1, while Season 2 reportedly "dip in quality and interest." The previous season finale shaped the series into something new with big revelations and major deaths, which seemed to be a new norm.

With that, no one knows what will come next. ScreenRant reported HBO had kept Westworld Season 3's plot details under wraps. The only thing known about it is the coming of the Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul in an unrevealed major role.

Nolan and Joy earlier vowed that Westworld Season 3 would take a "radical shift" to its story. However, no one knew what might happen here.

There are also reports that fans won't see Jimmi Simpson as the younger William or the Man in Black in Westworld Season 3. The 43-year-old actor even confirmed the news at the recent Television Critics Association press tour, per Express.co.uk.

"I believe, for now, Young William, his story is less of a focus there," Simpson said. "I feel like I can officially say that I have not been invited [back for Season 3]."

Westworld Season 3 is expected to undergo a soft reboot. The previous season finale opened the door to a "very different future," and the Man in Black would not be a part of it. Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) finally left the Westworld when she entered the new world disguised as Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson), along with Bernard (Jeffrey Wright). So, things might get different next season.
