Descendants 3 is gearing up for another summer release. Fans of the TV movie franchise could not be more excited, especially after Disney released a 40-second teaser that hints of some big changes for Maleficent's daughter Mal (played by Dove Cameron) and a new look for Belle and Beast's son Ben (played by Mitchell Hope).

Though the clip is short, it looks like Mal will once again go through a life-changing experience as she leads the rest of the villain kids to another quest on Descendants 3. The teaser also shows a glimpse of Ben's new look, which may or may not be related to this third film's story.

According to Digital SpyMal and her friends are heading to the Isle of the Lost to look for other villain kids who might want to be part of Auradon Prep. However, while there, the group will face the biggest battle that could threaten even the safety of Auradon.

This war will be between the villain kids versus Uma (played by China McClain). The latter has grown more powerful because she will band with Hades, the god of the Underworld. Disney has cast Cheyenne Jackson for this villainous role on Descendants 3, as per Deadline.

Jackson told People that his take on Hades in Descendants 3 would be like an '80s rocker. "He's lived a lot of life, and he has a lot to prove," he said, adding, "the character isn't so cut and dried [that] there is some grey area [to him]."

Expected to also return to Descendants 3 are the Evil Queen's daughter Evie (played by Sofia Carson), Cruella de Vil's son Carlos (played by Cameron Boyce), Jafar's son Jay (played by Booboo Stewart). New faces, however, will also be in the third film, such as Dr. Falacier (played by Jamal Sims), his daughter Celia (played by Jadah Marie), and the sons of Smee -- Squeaky (played by Christian Convery) and Squirmy (played by Luke Roessler), as per Seventeen.

But another Descendants 3 teaser Disney released last year also hints that Mal may finally meet her real father. The studio, however, has been mum about this character's casting.

The previous Descendants films aired during the summer on the Disney Channel. It's likely the third installment will also drop that month since filming had been completed last summer.
