Manny Pacquiao and his camp are reportedly in talks with the group of Floyd Mayweather Jr. for a possible rematch. Pacquiao is keeping his options open while the two camps are engaged in negotiations and would fly to Texas to attend a title match between two possible future opponents.
According to Boxing News 24, Manny Pacquiao is set to fly to Arlington, Texas to watch the March 16 title fight between Errol Spence Jr. and Mikey Garcia. The Filipino ring icon is reportedly eyeing the winner between Spence Jr. and Garcia if both the Pacquiao and Mayweather camps wouldn't be able to make a deal. But one thing is clear: the negotiations for a rematch between Pacquaio and Mayweather Jr. are already underway.

A rematch between Floyd and Canelo could be a $1.5 billion battle
"The negotiations are on-going," Pacquiao told rappler.com when asked about the status of his possible fight with Mayweather Jr. Pacquiao revealed that "there will be updates" about the negotiations in one to two weeks' time. Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. fought each other in 2015 and the latter scored a very convincing 12-round unanimous decision on his way to unifying WBA, WBC, and WBO welterweight belts.

Pacquiao, the only boxer to win major world titles in eight different weight divisions, later revealed that he was fighting with a right shoulder injury. Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's long-time trainer, claims that the Mayweather camp knew about the injury prior to fight night. Pacquiao needed to have surgery to repair the injury.

Now that Pacquiao is back again and healthy, he's looking to exact his revenge against Mayweather Jr. The former boxing pound-for-pound king fought the American Adrien Broner in Las Vegas, Nevada last January and immediately called out Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather Jr., as per his usual, deftly sidestepped the issue.
Mayweather Jr. is reportedly scheduled to fight again in July this year in Japan against a yet to be named opponent. According to reports, the fight will be a boxing exhibition match like the one Mayweather Jr. headlined last December 31, 2018. Mayweather Jr. fought and utterly dominated the Japanese star Tenshin Nasukawa in just one round. Further reports suggest that Mayweather Jr. has five to six exhibition matches lined up this year which puts the possible Pacquiao rematch in doubt.
However, Pacquiao and Mayweather have been in this situation before. The two fighters figured in back-and-forth fight-is-on and fight-is-off-again negotiations before they eventually met in the ring. Perhaps, in one or two weeks - as Pacquiao himself said, there would already be a result and the rematch of the century would be announced. After all, time is of the essence now as the ages of these two future Hall of Famers are catching up to them.
