Sheryl Sandberg, the social media giant Facebook's COO warned that the social media platform will pull its investment projects in Europe and Canada if its lobbying demands were not met. Contents of the court documents are circulating the media that the COO told government officials for the European Union and Canada that she will consider other options for the company's investments and growth is she did not receive assurance for the company's demand.
In response to the documents, Canada gave her a written assurance for her demands. The social media giant said that it is pleased with the company's relationship with the Irish government in which they plan to use to influence the European Union. The documents were enclosed as a part of a lawsuit filed in California between Facebook and the Six4Three, an app developer. In an attempt to embarrass the Social media platform, some confidential documents from the case were leaked online.
Facebook said that they will not give a detailed comment about the case. The company, however, said that like the other documents that were cherry-picked and released in violation of a court order last year, these by design tell one side of a story and omit important context. The company also added that these selective leaks came from a lawsuit where Six4Three, the creators of an app known as Pikinis, hoped to force Facebook to share information on friends of the app's users and these documents have been sealed by a Californian court so we're not able to discuss them in detail

Marne Levine, the former vice-president of global public policy of Facebook, said that Sheryl took a firm approach and outlined that a decision on the datacentre was imminent. According to her, Sheryl emphasized that if we could not get comfort from the Canadian government on the jurisdiction issue we had other options. The minister sent the letter assurance following the publicity of the demand.
