The Hammonds of Santa Clarita Diet are back for the third season! Netflix has finally announced that the show will release all 10 episodes of season 3 on Friday, March 29.
In a cute teaser to confirm Santa Clarita Diet season 3's release, Sheila (played by Drew Barrymore) is shown asking her husband Joel (played by Timothy Olyphant) to swear that they will continue to love and cherish each other until their death. After all the family has been through, Sheila would like Joel to reaffirm his commitment to their marriage for the next thousands of years, given that she's undead.
But the clip also hints of a "til death do us part" angle, as per Deadline. Is one of the major characters dying this season?
Santa Clarita Diet creator Victor Fresco hinted to TV Guide, while in the process of writing season 3, that there will be a threat to the Hammonds. Paul (played by Zachary Knighton), who was introduced last season, will be back along with Marsha (played by Jee Young Han).
Paul and Marsha were the ones who destroyed the source of the zombie virus in the previous season to protect their interest. Apparently, they are going after those who have eaten the contaminated clams from Serbia in Santa Clarita Diet season 3.
"We know that these guys are gonna want to kill them - or at least kill Sheila," Fresco said. Though they did not have a lot of screen time in the previous run, Paul and Marsha's presence will finally be explained in Santa Clarita Diet season 3 and Fresco has shared some tidbits about them to the press.
Paul and Marsha are actually working for an elite group of assassins tasked to cover up this zombie outbreak for centuries. More of their kind will be expected to pop up in Santa Clarita Diet season 3.
But the threat to the Hammonds may also come from their next-door neighbor, the cop and the religious believer Anne (played by Natalie Morales). She now knows Sheila is behind those deaths in their Santa Clarita neighborhood. Yet because she only kills the bad guys, Anna thinks that Shiela is actually doing God's work.
What Anna doesn't know, however, is that Sheila is a zombie. If she's going to be closer to her neighbors, then she could find out the Hammonds real secret. Will Anna turn against Sheila and Joel then?
Viewers will know the Hammonds fate once Santa Clarita Diet season 3 is out. All 10 episodes will be ready for streaming on Netflix on the eve of March 29.
