Many fans are now excited for the imminent return of Song Joong Ki in the small screen. The husband of Song Hye Kyo has stayed away from the limelight since the Song-Song couple tied the knot on Oct. 31, 2017. Now, recent reports suggest that avid followers of the 33-year-old Hallyu superstar would get to witness his acting prowess very soon.
For starters, Song Joong Ki was chosen to star in the up-and-coming television series titled Asadal, which is going to be the actor's latest project after the 2016 hit-show Descendants of the Sun. The forthcoming tvN drama is said to center on the power struggles, love, and growth of the Gojoseon's capital city. Song Hye Kyo's better half will play the role of Eun Seom, a cursed man who is fated to become a conqueror Asadal that will be transformed from being an ancient city into an empire.
Besides Song Joong Ki, other personalities to expect in the new drama series include Jang Dong Gun as Ta Gon, Kim Ji Won as Tan Ya and Kim Ok Vin as Tae Ha. Other stars to appear on Asadal are Jo Byung Gyu, Kim Ho Jung, Ko Bo Gyeo, Teo Yoo, Park Hyung Soon, Sjin Joo Hwan, Son Sook, Park Hae Joon, Yoo Tae Oh, Park Byung Eun, Choi Moo Sung, and Jo Sung Ha. Reports have it that Choo Ja Hyun will also have a special appearance on the series.
Kim Young Hun and Park Sang Yeon will write the script for the highly-anticipated fantasy drama. Kim Won Seok, on the other hand, will produce Asadal. There is no official release date announced for the Song Joong Ki-led series as of yet. However, there have sightings of Song Hye Kyo's husband filming in Brunei.
Early last week, reports suggested that Song Joong Ki has set foot on the said state to work on some scenes for Asadal. The former Descendants of the Sun star, reportedly, greeted his fans there with a smile when he arrived at the airport. More cast of the drama series are expected to fly to the country in the coming days.
In February, Song Joong Ki shared some exciting updates about his new television project. He said, in a post, that working on Asadal has been fun and everything is "turning out so well." Song Hye Kyo's real-life partner even revealed that all cast and crew are working very hard despite the cold weather just to make sure that the forthcoming show will be of high quality.
"I'm working with such great staff members that I'm confident that it'll be a good drama," The Innocent Man actor said in his message. "I'm working hard to create a never-before-seen character, so please wait a little while," the Asadal star went on.
