Korean boy band EXO's very own Lay Zhang and a Weibo user named Yang have been involved in a defamation lawsuit. Apparently, it has come to an end, with the singer winning the case.

In a report from Toggle, Beijing Haidian District People's Court had found Yang guilty. According to the Court's statement, the individual was found guilty of her "very harsh" post, which even contained some defaming terms aimed at the K-pop singer. Even more so, the offender made curses towards the latter. His actions proved to be more than what a public figure should be able to tolerate.

The court ordered the aforementioned Weibo user a hefty sum of 50,000 yuan ($10,100) to Lay Zhang. The EXO singer, in a surprising move, decided to waive off the compensation and said it was based on some careful consideration.

According to the singer's lawyer, the 27-year-old K-pop star has decided not to pursue the case, especially since the accused has made a public apology recently. Add to this decision from Lay the fact that Yang is facing some financial difficulties at home, which further urged the former to waive off the compensation asked by the Court.

Lay Zhang hopes that Yang could learn a lesson from what had happened and that she would start minding her behavior online. Zhang also advises that she would never do something like this to happen to anyone ever again.

According to AsiaOne, Yang started launching some personal attacks towards Yang, all of which were evident in their multiple posts on Weibo. The attacks were reportedly accounted between July 2016 and September 2017.

In one of her post, she wished Zhang to "die suddenly" on the streets. Eventually, Yang received a lawyer's letter about the lawsuit in January this year. Ever since then, all of her posts on the Chinese social media site were deleted, except for her public apology.

Yang, in her apology post, offered her sincerest apology to EXO's Lay Zhang. She admitted all of the mindless criticisms she made, not to mention the different personal attacks and curses - all of which have ruined the singer's reputation in one way or another. "... for that, I am sorry," Yang said.

It is worth noting that Yang was not the only individual guilty of defaming Lay Zhang's name, the publication added. It was the former who took the spotlight after her posts went viral.
