Camilla Luddington's Jo Wilson is going to be the focal point of Grey's Anatomy season 15 episode 19. Set to air on Thursday, March 28, the episode is titled "Silent All These Years."
Jo will uncover a truth about her past in Grey's Anatomy season 15 episode 19, as per the episode synopsis. Her plight will be triggered by a trauma patient who is seeking treatment at Grey Sloan.
The actress filmed her special episode in January under director Debbie Allen. She told TV Line that this was the "hardest episode" she has ever done. "It's unbelievable. It's so powerful," Luddington said as she described her experience while filming her Jo-centric story.
Fans have also been anticipating this episode since it will feature her biological parents for the very first time. As viewers of Grey's Anatomy are aware, the character has been brought up in foster care since she was abandoned weeks after her birth.
Helping Jo figure out the truth about her life will be Teddy (played by Kim Raver). Luddington confirmed with TV Line that the character's presence in Grey's Anatomy season 15 episode 19 will be for both personal and medical reasons.
But Jo isn't the only character to have a standalone on Grey's Anatomy. Caterina Scorsone's character, Amelia, will also have her backstory to be explored in an upcoming episode.
Scorsone also told TV Line that her character's special episode would play out like its movie. It was directed by Bill D'Elia, and it won't take place at Grey Sloan.
Meanwhile, before these specials air in the coming weeks, viewers will still have to watch Grey's Anatomy season 15 episode 17 this Thursday, March 14. This episode, titled "And Dream of Sheep," features the Delucas -- Andrew (played by Giacomo Gianniotti) and Carina (played by Stefania Spampinato) -- and their problems with family.
Teddy and Owen (played by Kevin McKidd), on the other hand, will be working on a couple expecting a baby together. Amelia will be attending a neuro conference about alternative pain treatments.
The following Thursday, March 21, will have one of the Delucas and Alex (played by Justin Chambers) dealing with a difficult 11-year-old patient. Richard (played by James Pickens, Jr.) and Jackson (played by Jesse Williams), on the other hand, have to treat a patient who identifies as gender non-binary.
ABC has not yet renewed Grey's Anatomy for season 16 as of press time. The contract for star Ellen Pompeo (as Meredith Grey), however, is good until May 2020 or another full season.
