There have been rumors spreading online and on SNS portals linking some "female celebrities" and "K-pop idols" to Jung Joon Young's hidden camera footage. Some of these malicious rumors reportedly linked the girl group BLACKPINK to these "hidden camera contents." Now, YG Entertainment is planning to take strict legal action against these false rumors.
Several actresses and female K-pop idols have been "victimized" because of these ongoing controversies, and on March 13, YG Entertainment warned those who are spreading malicious rumors linking BLACKPINK to the issue. According to the report from Allkpop, the entertainment company released a statement saying several reports spreading online involving their label's female artists are entirely false.
At first, YG added, they felt that such malicious rumors did not deserve their attention. However, they found out that these false reports continue to spread online and defame their label artists. And because of this, they are informing everyone about their decision to take strict legal action against not only the perpetrator of the original rumors but also those who spread and added fuel to the rumors.
On Wednesday, Jung Joon Young admitted he was secretly filming sex videos of women he slept with. The 30-year-old K-pop star admits all of his "sins" in which he filmed women without their consent, sharing these videos in an SNS group chat with fellow entertainers, without feeling any sense of guilt. Then, he apologized to all of his wrongdoings, especially to women involved in the videos and those who are disappointed and upset in this incident.
Jung Joon Young also announced his retirement, pulling himself out from all TV shows where he has appeared. He vowed to halt all activities in the entertainment scene, basically "putting everything down" as a public figure. He further added that he'd repent for all of his unethical and unlawful behaviors, involving "criminal acts" for the rest of his life.
Jung Joon Young, who is best known for his part in KBS' variety show 2 Days & 1 Night, is under police investigation after allegedly uploading his sex videos in a KakaoTalk group chat. According to the police, he is believed to have filmed the videos between 2015 and 2016 without the consent of the women he slept with.
Meanwhile, BIGBANG member Seungri was reportedly a member of the chat. He is also under a police probe and was accused of allegedly providing escort services to his potential business partners for lobbying. On Monday, he announced his retirement from the entertainment industry as well.
