Park Han Byul apologized for her husband Yoo In Suk's involvement in the controversial chatroom, which includes Seungri and Jung Joon Young. The South Korean actress' husband was the former CEO of Yuri Holdings.
In a report from Allkpop, the chatroom was reportedly linked to police cover-ups, as well as solicitation and procurement of prostitution. The involvement of Park Han Byul's husband in the controversial chatroom sparked public outrage, prompting some viewers to petition the actress' exit from the MBC drama Love in Sadness.
Park Han Byul released a statement on March 19, addressing the issue and saying sorry to everyone. The actress apologized for causing worries due to the controversy, especially with the involvement of her husband. She added that although her husband's past was irrelevant with her life, she needs to be careful about what to say because of the ongoing investigation.
Park Han Byul also revealed she'll continue filming Love in Sadness despite the controversies since she made commitments with people, such as her agency, the production company, and the network. Currently, they're already filming the last parts of the drama and because she plays the character of Ma Ri (the lead role), they shouldn't disturb the flow of the melodrama.
The actress added all of them who shared the same opinion decided to continue the show until the end, and they'll be filming with responsibility. Park Han Byul also said she'll take some time to look back and live an honest life as a mother and a wife when Love in Sadness concluded. The actress thanked everyone who supported her and the show and apologized once again for those who are criticizing her due to the controversies related to her family.
In another report from Soompi, the actress' husband Yoo In Suk also issued a statement addressing his alleged connection to the chatroom and to Senior Superintendent Yoon. The former Yuri Holdings CEO has been a business partner of Seungri and he was reportedly the "problem solver" of the chatroom, which includes Jung Joon Young, Seungri, Choi Joong Hoon, and four others. He allegedly covered up the news about Choi Jong Hoon's drunk driving incident in 2016.
As reported by MBC's Newsdesk on March 19, Yoo In Suk released a written apology but he denied the allegations made against him. He said that he did not receive any information coming from Senior Superintended Yoon about the crackdown on Monkey Museum, which is the club that he and Seungri opened.
Reportedly, he only gave him advice that he shouldn't operate a business like that - yet Yoon suspected of leaking official secrets. As for the content of the controversial chatroom, Yoo In Suk said the contents of the KaKaoTalk conversations were "false" and "jokes". But on March 19, it was reported the two were banned from leaving the country as they are still under police investigation.
