Avnet, a major electronics company based in the US, has recently become the latest major enterprise to accept payments in Bitcoin as well as other cryptocurrencies. Back on March 10, 2019, the US company announced that it will now be allowing its customers and users to purchase goods and services using both Bitcoin and Bitcoin cash. Bitpay, a leading crypto payments processor, will be in charge of facilitating the transactions.
Avnet to accept Bitcoin
Initially established back in 1921, Avnet is easily one of the oldest major American Electronics companies that are still operating today. Furthermore, the company also has a net income of around $250 million, as well as more than 15,000 employees, making it one of the country's largest technological firms. Nowadays, the company is also focused on using its business centers to help design and manufacture other company's electronics.
Back in Tuesday, the company also announced that in addition to it integrating Bitcoin into its system, the companies that it works with will also start accepting both Bitcoin and Bitcoin cash as payment for its services.
And according to Sunny Trinh, the company's vice president of demand creation, the new payment options are available immediately. He then added that the company has already "closed several multi-million-dollar transactions" using cryptocurrency.
Per Trinh, "Our customers have been asking to pay in cryptocurrency, and we listened. Bitcoin gives our customers added flexibility, and we are excited to offer our customers the option to pay with Bitcoin or Bitcoin cash."
An important company change
According to Trinh, Avnet's decision to incorporate Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies reflect the company's effort in making sure businesses and individuals have one less problem to worry about when it comes to purchases, as crypto is slowly being adapted into the mainstream.
Added Trinh, "Cryptocurrency is one more way we help our customers bring their products to market faster."
Sonny Singh, who's a chief commercial officer at Bitpay, expressed a similar statement, saying, "I predict Avnet will attract many new blockchain-focused customers from around the world that want to take advantage of paying with Bitcoin."
Bitcoin, the world's most famous cryptocurrency, reached its peak back in December 2017 up until January 2018, when the digital coin reached up to $20,000 per coin. This opened the floodgate for the cryptocurrency that we have today, although Bitcoin has yet to reach the heights it went up to back in its peak today.
