The last time that NCIS fans saw Ziva David on the show was still in Season 11's Past, Present, Future episode. Although it has been already publicized that Ziva died during the following installments, her body has not been seen or recovered. And apparently, this gave the fans a hint that Ziva might not be dead at all.
However, as the show progresses, there is no evidence of her being alive was shown. In fact, the characters of NCIS even went on with cases around her character that only suggested that she is no longer returning to the show. And whether the fans like it or not, it's been already five seasons and there is still no sign of Ziva.
As any NCIS fan would know it, Tony DiNozzo tracked Ziva in the previous seasons. And it has been revealed that she is hiding in Israel after a terrorist has been targeting their team. But as DiNozzo insisted that she must come back, Ziva decided to leave the agent life following the death of her father.
While this is already the last appearance that Ziva did on the show, it is only at the end of season 13 that she was revealed to be presumed dead. And after that, no further progressions made to her storyline.
But, things could change now for NCIS since the previous episode of season 16 gave away a surprising revelation that caught the attention of many. At the end of She episode, it has been revealed that Ziva David might still be alive.
The actress, Cote de Pablo, did not appear in the episode at all. But Ziva's office and casebooks did. And as it happens, this is where the supposed alive Ziva David left a note for Bishop letting her know that she's still alive and she wants it to keep things as a secret, for now.
Cote de Pablo did not confirm anything from anyone in the media if she's returning to the show. But in reference to some theories, there is a huge chance that Ziva might return as Ducky exits the show, according to Express. And this is presumably going to be a great plot twist in the series if ever Ziva David is truly still alive.
As to when she'll make an appearance, there are no further confirmations yet. Even the official synopsis of the episode and the following installments did not mention anything about this revelation or her character.
So, fans could never really know until they watch NCIS again for its episode 14 which will be aired on March 26.
