It's been almost a year since Outlander fans were assured of two more additional seasons to the show. But as time passes by, avid fanatics of the show is getting more impatient as to when the new season will be released on Starz.
There are no confirmations yet as to when season 5 will drop on the network. And as everyone would recall it, each Outlander season premiered on different months with no apparent number of years in between.
The first season of the show was released in August of 2014. And after almost two years, the second installment followed in April. As for the third season, it premiered in September 2017 while the latest season aired on television in November of 2018. So, there's not much of a pattern to follow which leaves everyone in the dark.
Even so, every season of the show comes in twelve episodes. And there is a huge chance that the upcoming season will also follow this number.
While only little has been shared about the upcoming season, actors of Outlander are becoming more transparent recently in their respective social media accounts about their activities about the production of season 5. And earlier this month, it has been revealed that the new season is already in the making. So, it is quite safe to assume that the show will return with all new season come late 2019 or early 2020 as explained by Bustle.
As for the plot of the show, season 4 had left its fans with shocking revelations and twists when it aired its season finale last January. Roger is still in captivity. And there is no assurance yet if Jamie and Claire will survive to save him from the tribe.
On the other hand, Brianna is pregnant, and Stephen Bonnet learned this truth before the prison explosion happened. And it is still unknown if he is alive or not.
And with all these cliffhangers at hand, there is a great deal of chance that the next season will still strictly follow these storylines.
But unlike the previous seasons, the showrunner and executive producer of Outlander revealed that season 5 might deviate its overall dynamics from the "one book per season" pattern, according to Entertainment Weekly. The next season may feature a "combination of the fifth and sixth books in the series" which are titled The Fiery Cross and A Breath of Snow and Ashes, respectively, the producer added.
So far, these are the only informative details that everyone can get from the upcoming season of Outlander. And until further notice, fans should extend their patience because, in the end, it will be certainly worth it.
