Believe it or not, Supernatural is the longest-running fantasy genre series in the history of American television. For 15 years now, the series has become one of the most impressive shows. But sadly, the Winchester brothers are not going to live forever.
On January, CW has renewed Supernatural for its fifteenth season. And this caused for the fans to rejoice as they will get to see the Winchesters once more. However, this will be the final installment already for the show as revealed on Twitter by Jensen Ackles, the Supernatural's Dean Winchester.
While this may be sad news for everyone involved, the fans will still get to watch a total of 20 episodes for the upcoming season. And not to mention that the show is still running on CW for its fourteenth installment. In fact, there are four more episodes remaining before the season 14 wraps up. So, there is still more to watch before the fandom could say goodbye to Supernatural.
The release date for the last installment is still unknown. And no further information has been revealed yet to the public. But if the production will follow the same pattern of the previous seasons' premiere dates, then there is a huge chance that season 15 will arrive in October of this year, per Den of Geek.
Even so, it is still worth noting that the latest season is still running and this might change things for the show. This also applies to the plot of the upcoming season. To avoid major spoilers, no further revelation has been shared about the plot and storyline.
Obviously, Supernatural season 15 will still feature the Winchester brothers, Dean and Sam. Besides, it's not going to be complete without one of the two. The brothers have been together since the show first aired in 2005. Hence, there is no point if one of them will not come back unless, of course, something happens in the remaining episodes of the current season.
There are also rumors that The Walking Dead star, Dean Morgan, along with Samantha Smith, would reprise their roles as John and Maggie Winchester, respectively. As well as Misha Collins who plays the role of Castiel in the previous seasons.
All in all, these are the only principal details that are given about the upcoming season. So, it is likely that all will be set straight once the latest season ends in April or May.
